The Bottom of the Page Is Actually the Top of Trust
Scroll to the very bottom of your website. What do you see? A small grey "Copyright 2023" and a link to a Wix or WordPress login? If so, your footer is silently screaming "amateur" to every corporate buyer and compliance officer who lands on your page.
The footer is the second most-scanned area of a Kenyan B2B website (after the hero section), because it's where procurement teams look for legal and operational proof that you are a real, registered, accountable entity. Here at Stonehenge Digital, we have identified the six compliance icons and pieces of micro-copy that transform a footer from a dead zone into a trust engine.
The 6 Essential Footer Elements
1. Company Registration Number & KRA PIN
Display these discreetly but visibly. Example: "Stonehenge Digital KE is a registered company in Kenya: PVT-2024-123456 | KRA PIN: P0511XXXXX." This single line answers the first two questions on any vendor registration form.
2. Physical Address (Not a P.O. Box)
P.O. Boxes are for correspondence. Physical addresses are for accountability. "4th Floor, Westpark Towers, Westlands, Nairobi. Visits by appointment." Embed a small Google Maps pin icon.
3. Safaricom M-Pesa Till Number Logo
Displaying the recognizable green M-Pesa logo with your Till number (if you accept it) signals that you are plugged into the Kenyan financial ecosystem. It's a local trust badge that foreign companies can't easily replicate.
4. Data Protection Compliance Note
The Data Protection Act 2019 is in effect. A simple line: "We respect your data privacy. See our Privacy Policy." with a link, shows you are aware of your legal obligations.
5. Trust Seals / Association Membership Logos
Are you a member of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), your local chamber of commerce, or a professional body (ICPAK, AAK, LSK)? Place small greyscale logos in the footer. It's silent social proof.
6. A "Verified by" Badge (Stonehenge Digital Offer)
We provide our clients with a small "Site Verified by Stonehenge Digital" badge. It links to a page confirming the site is professionally managed and secured, which reduces procurement anxiety about phishing.
What to Remove Immediately
- "Powered by [Free Builder]" - It brands you as a cost-cutter, not an investor.
- "© 2019" - An outdated copyright date suggests the business may be dormant.
- A @gmail.com contact - Your email should be
[email protected].
Your footer is not an afterthought. It's the final handshake before the deal.
